My experience at the University of Michigan ID camp couldn’t have gone any better. My dad and I drove up to Michigan the day before and stayed at a hotel about 15 minutes away from the camp. My dad and I woke and headed to the fields around 10:30 (which was probably way to early for a camp starting at 1:30), however, it was a positive because I got to see the campus and take a look around.
All of the sports’ facilities like the Big House and fields were super nice and the campus was super pretty. We sat in the parking lot for a little bit. After a while, I got checked in to the camp. I got on my shin guards and cleats and went right into it.
At check-in, they we were divided into pre-set groups. I was placed in a group with my teammate, Callie Tumilty. I also had some other really amazing players in my group. We started with drills that had 4 different coaches leading each one. Then we went into a 9v9 game. I scored three goals and had two assists. I especially liked one of my goals. My group ended up winning 8-2 and then we went over to a different building to work on some small sided games.
The camp was intense and I’ve got to admit everyone seemed pretty gassed later in the day. I think I played some really good soccer. In terms of competition, this was one of the best camps with lots of girls from the GA and ECNL. I also really enjoyed meeting all of the coaches. I have seen coach Klein, Christ, and Boateng at a bunch of my showcase events and it was nice to say hello to them. I have previously worked with Coach Holly at an ODP event.
Overall, I had a great time and am looking forward to going back soon!
