The day after Thanksgiving has always been sacred in my family. That’s the day we go to a Christmas tree farm and chop down our Christmas tree and decorate it as a family. We have been doing it for as long as I can remember. A lot has changed over the years. Now, with my brother and sister in college, this tradition is even more special.

Despite our family time, there’s one thing that has to happen before we can hit the tree farm. Training. So, Thanksgiving weekend or not, I’m up at 7 am to head to training with Janet Albert and Advantage Soccer along with some of my teammates and friends. The group is small but dedicated. I’d bet every girl in attendance will be playing in college one day.

It might not always be easy to get up and out, but as my old coach Fabrice Gautrat always said, you have to love to grind. That’s also a tradition I love.
